Build Gurus Pty Ltd (ABN 27 669 569 064, “we”, “us”) operates buildgurus.com.au. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect, and why
Quote and contact forms
When you send an enquiry through a form on this site, we collect what you type into it: your name, phone number, suburb, the service you’re asking about, your message, and your email address if you choose to give one. We use this for one purpose: to contact you about your enquiry and prepare your quote.
Your enquiry is stored in this website’s own database and a copy is emailed to us at admin@buildgurus.com.au (delivered through Google Workspace, our email provider). Enquiries are not published anywhere and are only accessible to Build Gurus staff.
For spam and abuse prevention, the form records a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your internet address (a salted hash). We do not store your actual IP address with your enquiry, and the fingerprint cannot be turned back into it.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and whether an enquiry was sent. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your device type, browser and approximate location. This information is aggregated; it does not identify you personally to us. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. Google’s own handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Phone and email
If you call or email us directly, we keep the details you provide (your contact details and the content of the correspondence) for as long as needed to handle the job or enquiry.
What we don’t do
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not send marketing emails or newsletters. We only share your information where it is necessary to deliver the services above (for example, our email and analytics providers, Google) or where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records while they are relevant to quoting or completed work, and for the periods required for business and legal record-keeping (for example, records connected to building work and warranties). When records are no longer needed, we delete them.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, enquiry records are held in a private database that is not exposed publicly, and access is limited to Build Gurus staff. No internet transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email admin@buildgurus.com.au or call 0468 499 850 and we will action it promptly. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page. This policy was last updated on 9 August 2026.
